Believe CEO accuses major record companies of lobbying streaming platforms to lower royalty rates for DIY artists

Are the major record companies trying to pressure music streaming services to pay DIY artists lower royalty rates than those received by established superstars?According to Believe boss Denis Ladegaillerie, yes, they are.He claims that certain majors are pushing for this change because "they've been consistently losing market share for the past five years" due to the volume of releases coming out via DIY platforms... (MBW)

African Music service Mdundo reached 20.3m Monthly Active Users last month, up 74% since June 2021
Two weeks, ago, African music service Mdundo, which listed on the Danish stock exchange (the Nasdaq First North Growth Market) in September 2020, announced a new licensing deal with Universal Music Group (UMG).At the time,  Mdundo reported to have 17 million monthly active users across Africa, which means the service had added 10 million since February 2021.Mdundo has now issued a new update to its MAU number, revealing that its service had 20.3 million monthly active users in June 2022, which was up 74% versus June 2021... (MBW)
